Bio:

After eleven years of teaching physical science to adolescents, I decided it was time to dedicate myself to raising my two young sons and to my art and writing, both of which can be found here at mannequin envy.

I feel  fortunate to have talented artists and writers joining me at mannequin envy,  and I hope this baby continues to grow! You can find some of my  poetry on-line at the links to the right, some might not be up anymore,  or yet...but they are all nice sites to visit!

My poem, "Another Missed Performance" was nominated for the Pushcart and recently had a poem printed in Midwifery Today and Free Verse with poems forthcoming in Poetry Motel,  remark and Bear Creek Haiku.

Why mannequin envy?

I orignally started the site to have a place to show my own favorite poems that were not fitting into other journals. I quickly changed my focusto building  an environment that welcomed  perhaps less traditional and highly talented artists and poets. Art and poetry that has been overlaundered, starched and pressed makes my skin itch.  I started this site in September 2004. This is the fourth issue.

Why the name?

Used with permission from a good friend, Douglas Gamrath in this poem, "We Room."  Make sure to check out his work.

entering a different room
the lighting is similar
positions are different
I experience mannequin envy

we keep our hands warm in each other
our step is march
our heels clack, noses bleed
from our own loftiness
